Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur and his lovely wife, Deanne Bray Kotsur spread an extra dose of Love with their RoseBYANDER LoveSign brooches. Troy wore our bespoke crystal brooch with his gorgeous purple velvet tux. We can’t get over this gorgeous combination. Deanne styled our bespoke gold ball LoveSign brooch as a hairpin and it was stunning.
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing filmmaker community has come a long way beginning with trailblazer Marlee Matlin’s Best Actress win in 1987 to last year’s Best Picture CODA’s sweep led by three Deaf actors who showed the world that there is no need for Deaf costumes. This year Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur returned to the Oscars to present the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards. Our community, rich with stories ripe for sharing, is finally being recognized for our beautiful language and culture. We are beginning to see more of ourselves on screens everywhere and are excited about what is to come.
Troy and Deanne Kotsur were also joined by publicist Katie Feldman and Justin Maurer, sign language interpreter with their LoveSign brooches styled with a fresh take on love by Jenny Ricker, stylist extraordinaire.
...and some more photos we just love from the Oscars with Marlee Matlin.
Simply said, it was quite a night for the RoseBYANDER community. We are so proud to have been a part of the Oscars 2023.
